24 HOURS OF GIVING TUESDAY
What a wonderful time of year. As our American friends finish celebrating Thanksgiving with their loved ones and counting their blessings, retailers kick-off the holiday shopping blitz with Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
The attitude of gratitude quickly dissipates as videos emerge of people getting trampled while rushing to save big on electronics and home furnishings. Black Friday and Cyber Monday do great things for the economy, but what about giving back to the community?
What if all of the retail madness was followed by a day that inspired people to be kind and do good?
That’s how Giving Tuesday was born. It’s a global day of giving and this year it falls on November 28, officially kicking off the giving season.
Founded by the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact at the 92nd Street Y and launched in Canada by Canada Helps and GIV3, Giving Tuesday serves as a reminder to give back, volunteer and raise money for a good cause. It’s a day to commit to doing acts of kindness to make the world a better place.
At Ramp, we’re friends with brands that positively impact people, our community, and the world. We work hard to create a vibrant social profit sector capable of solving our generation’s most urgent challenges and that means we’re surrounded by like-minded causes that make a difference in so many ways. We take great pride in participating in Giving Tuesday, yet, it also presents us with a great challenge. How do we choose where to give?
This year we’re tackling the challenge head-on and doing something BOLD and different on Giving Tuesday.
Instead of picking one cause to support, we’re helping our big-hearted readers get in the spirit of giving by showcasing a heart-warming cause every hour for Ramp’s first-ever 24 hours of Giving Tuesday! Keep your eyes on our Twitter to get inspired with warm and fuzzy reminders of great causes doing great things to make the world a better place.
